Morningstar Model SUNSAVER SS-10L-12V
This is one of eight versions in the SunSaver product line manufactured by MorningStar, one of the world's leading small solar controller manufacturers for both professional and consumer applications.
This model is rated at 10amps and is designed to operate on a normal 12 V DC battery system. It regulates the current from the solar panels (approximately 110 W) into your battery protecting it from overcharges. It is 100% solid state design, true PWM and can handle overloads up to 25%. It's fully encapsulated in epoxy potting, has Marine rated terminals and is an anodized case. You can select either sealed or flooded battery type. The controller also provides isolation from the solar panel(s) to the battery during non-sunlit hours protecting the battery from discharge.
This model also offers a set of terminals for a load up to 10 amps. Connect any load off the terminals and the controller will power it off of the energy from your battery and the solar panel. If sunlight becomes unavailable, it will monitor the battery voltage until it reaches its low voltage detect (LVD) level (11.5 V) at which point it will automatically disconnect the load. If sunshine reappears, and the battery reaches a charge level of at least 12.6 V, then the low voltage disconnect will reconnect the load to allow it to continue operation.
