AGM technology — Absorbent Glass Mat — holds the electrolyte absorbed within a glass-fibre mat between the plates, eliminating free liquid and making the battery completely sealed and valve-regulated. This construction enables the battery to accept very high charge and discharge currents, contributing to the low internal resistance that makes it particularly capable under heavy surge loads such as inverters, thrusters, and winches. The AGM design also allows installation in virtually any orientation without risk of spillage.

Constructed with lead-calcium grids and high-purity materials, the Victron AGM Telecom battery exhibits a self-discharge rate of less than 2% per month at 20°C — allowing extended shelf life of up to one year without recharge and reducing maintenance requirements in standby and backup applications.
