AGM Technology Explained

Our AGM Batteries employ cutting-edge Absorbent Glass Mat technology. The electrolyte is absorbed into a glass-fibre mat between the plates, providing a unique level of performance.

Features

Front-Access Terminal Layout — Ideal for Rack and Space-Constrained Installations

The front-facing M8 flat copper terminal layout allows full access to battery connections from the front of the unit, making the battery ideal for rack-mounted telecom systems and any installation where side or top access is restricted. The same narrow footprint provides significant space savings in marine, RV, and vehicle applications.

AGM Technology — Sealed, Valve-Regulated, Spill-Proof

Absorbent Glass Mat construction holds the electrolyte within a glass-fibre mat between the plates, eliminating free liquid and producing a completely sealed, maintenance-free battery. This enables installation in virtually any orientation, with no risk of acid spillage and no requirement for regular electrolyte top-up.

Low Internal Resistance — High Charge and Discharge Acceptance

The AGM construction delivers very low internal resistance, allowing the battery to accept and deliver very high charge and discharge currents. With a short-circuit current rating of 6000A and a cold cranking capability of 1800A at -18°C, it is well suited to high-demand applications including inverters, bow thrusters, and electric winches.

Long Float Design Life — 12 Years at 20°C

Built with lead-calcium grids and high-purity materials, the Victron AGM Telecom battery is rated for a float design life of 12 years at 20°C, making it a cost-effective long-term solution for standby power, UPS, and backup applications where battery replacement frequency is a critical operational consideration.

High Cyclic Life Capability

The battery is rated for up to 500 cycles at 80% depth of discharge, 750 cycles at 50% DoD, and 1800 cycles at 30% DoD — providing genuine deep cycle durability for applications that involve regular charge and discharge cycling alongside standby use.

Very Low Self-Discharge

A self-discharge rate of less than 2% per month at 20°C — a direct result of the lead-calcium grid construction and high-purity materials — allows the battery to be stored for up to one year without recharge, significantly reducing maintenance requirements in seasonal, standby, and backup power installations.

M8 Flat Copper Terminals

The drilled flat copper M8 terminals provide the best possible electrical connection contact and eliminate the need for battery terminal adaptors or converters. This simplifies installation, reduces connection resistance, and ensures a secure and reliable long-term connection in professional system builds.

CE and UL Compliant — ABS Fireproof Container
