The Victron AC Current Sensor (CSE000100000) is a compact, non-invasive split-core current sensor designed to measure the AC output of a single-phase PV inverter connected to the AC input or output of a Victron Multi or Quattro inverter/charger. By passing one AC conductor of the PV inverter through the sensor core, it measures AC current and — combined with the voltage measurement already available inside the Multi or Quattro — calculates apparent power in VA and energy production in kWh, making PV inverter yield visible on any connected Victron GX device and the VRM remote monitoring portal.
The sensor connects via two measurement wires to either the AUX input or the TEMP-sense input of a compatible Multi or Quattro. It is configurable for four power ranges — 1.5 kW, 3 kW, 5 kW, and 7 kW — via onboard DIP switches, with the selected range determining the maximum measurable current (up to 30.5A) and the maximum input current (up to 40A). Up to nine AC Current Sensors can be installed in a single system, enabling multi-phase and multi-inverter installations to be fully monitored from a single GX device.
The AC Current Sensor is one of several options for visualising PV inverter solar yield within a Victron system — alongside solutions such as direct Modbus TCP communication with supported PV inverter brands. It is an ideal choice for AC-coupled systems where the PV inverter does not support direct network communication with the Victron GX device, or where a simple, hardware-based yield measurement is preferred over a network-based integration.
Note that this sensor (CSE000100000) is a general-purpose AC current sensor for Multi and Quattro and should not be confused with the dedicated Current Transformer 100A:50mA accessory for MultiPlus-II (part number CTR110000500), which is a separate and distinct product.
Feature
Non-Invasive Split-Core Current Measurement
The split-core design allows a single AC conductor of the PV inverter to be passed through the sensor aperture without cutting or modifying the cable — enabling installation on existing wiring without interrupting the AC circuit or requiring any rewiring.
Apparent Power (VA) and Energy (kWh) Calculation
By combining the sensor's AC current measurement with the voltage measurement already available inside the connected Multi or Quattro, the system calculates apparent power in VA and cumulative energy production in kWh — providing a complete picture of PV inverter yield without additional meters or external devices.
Visible on GX Device and VRM Portal
All measurements from the AC Current Sensor are displayed directly on any connected Victron GX device — including the Cerbo GX, Ekrano GX, and Color Control GX — and are logged and accessible remotely through the VRM portal, providing live and historical solar yield visibility from anywhere.
Four Configurable Power Ranges via DIP Switch
The sensor is configurable for four power ranges via onboard DIP switches: 1.5 kW, 3 kW, 5 kW, and 7 kW. The selected range should be equal to or higher than the maximum expected PV inverter output power — for example, a 4 kW installation should be set to the 5 kW range. Each range determines the measurement resolution and maximum input current rating.
Up to Nine Sensors per System
A maximum of nine AC Current Sensors can be installed in a single Victron system — enabling full yield monitoring across multi-phase installations and systems with multiple PV inverters, each sensor connected to the AUX or TEMP-sense input of the Multi or Quattro on the corresponding phase.
Connects to AUX or TEMP-Sense Input
The two measurement wires connect to either the AUX input or the TEMP-sense input of a compatible Multi or Quattro. Note that not all Multi and Quattro models support the AUX input for this sensor — the TEMP-sense input is compatible across all models. The Multi or Quattro must use a control board with a firmware version starting with 26 or 27 (not 19 or 20) for compatibility.
IP54 Weather Protection
Rated IP54 for protection against dust ingress and water splashing from any direction, the AC Current Sensor is suitable for installation in electrical enclosures and compartments that may be subject to occasional moisture exposure in marine, RV, and off-grid applications.
