Victron Battery Protect 12/24/48V

The Victron BatteryProtect range is a series of intelligent, ignition-proof battery protection devices designed to automatically disconnect non-essential DC loads from the battery before it becomes completely discharged - protecting the battery from deep-discharge damage and preserving sufficient energy for critical systems. Available in four models - BP-65 (12/24V 65A), BP-100 (12/24V 100A), BP-220 (12/24V 220A), and BP 48-100 (48V 100A) - all models use MOSFET switching for spark-free operation, include nine programmable voltage threshold settings, and feature a dedicated Li-ion mode for external BMS integration.

All 12/24V models automatically detect the system voltage at startup - no manual voltage selection is required. Engage and disengage voltage thresholds are set using the programming pin, with the selected setting confirmed on the built-in seven-segment display. Default thresholds are chemistry-appropriate per model and can be adjusted to one of nine predefined voltage pairs covering all common lead-acid and lithium battery discharge levels. The 48V model uses the same programming approach with 48V-appropriate default thresholds (42V disengage / 48V engage).

In Li-ion mode, all models can be controlled directly by an external BMS - such as the Victron Lynx Smart BMS or VE.Bus BMS - via a dry contact connection to the remote terminal. When ATD (Allowed to Discharge) opens, the BP disconnects the load immediately with no delay. The BP remains disengaged for 30 seconds after ATD closes before reconnecting. In standard voltage-based mode, load disconnection occurs 90 seconds after the battery voltage drops below the disengage threshold, with reconnection 30 seconds after recovery above the engage threshold.

All models are strictly uni-directional - current can only flow from the IN terminal to the OUT terminal - and are not designed for reverse currents from charging sources. A short-circuit-proof alarm output activates 12 seconds after the battery voltage drops below the disengage threshold to alert users via an external buzzer, LED, or relay. Over-voltage protection disconnects the load if DC voltage exceeds the maximum safe threshold for each model.

Automatic Low-Voltage Load Disconnect - Battery Over-Discharge Protection

Disconnects non-essential DC loads 90 seconds after battery voltage drops below the preset disengage threshold - protecting the battery from deep discharge damage. Reconnects automatically 30 seconds after the battery voltage recovers above the preset engage threshold. If triggered by an external BMS in Li-ion mode, the disconnect is immediate with no delay.

Over-Voltage Load Protection

Disconnects the load immediately when DC voltage exceeds the maximum safe threshold - 16.3V (12V systems), 32.6V (24V systems), and 64V (48V system) - protecting sensitive DC loads and electronics from damage caused by alternator spikes, charger faults, or other overvoltage events.

Nine Predefined Voltage Settings - Programming Pin Selection

One of nine predefined engage/disengage voltage pairs can be selected using the programming pin and confirmed on the built-in seven-segment display - covering a range of battery chemistries and discharge thresholds without requiring a smartphone, app, or computer.

Li-ion Mode - External BMS Dry Contact Integration

A dedicated Li-ion mode allows all BatteryProtect models to be controlled directly by an external BMS via a dry contact connection to the remote terminal - enabling immediate load disconnect when ATD opens, with a 30-second reconnect delay after ATD closes. Undervoltage thresholds and alarm output are inactive in this mode.

Ignition-Proof MOSFET Switching - No Sparks

MOSFET transistors replace mechanical relay contacts - eliminating the spark that occurs when a relay switches high-current DC circuits, making all BatteryProtect models fully ignition-proof and safe for installation in fuel vapour environments on boats and vehicles.

System On/Off Switch Function

The remote terminal allows the BatteryProtect to function as a complete system on/off switch - enabling the entire DC load circuit to be switched on and off via a low-current control input without routing high current through the switch itself.

Delayed Alarm Output - 12-Second Protection

A short-circuit-proof open collector alarm output activates when the battery voltage remains below the disengage threshold for more than 12 seconds - triggering an external buzzer, LED, or relay to alert the user. The delay prevents alarm activation during momentary voltage dips from engine starting or high inrush loads.

Automatic 12V / 24V Detection (12/24V Models)

The three 12/24V BatteryProtect models automatically detect the system voltage at startup - no manual voltage selection jumper or configuration is required, simplifying installation and eliminating the risk of incorrect voltage selection.
