The Victron Energy Battery Switch ON/OFF 275A is a heavy-duty manual DC isolation switch designed to safely disconnect a battery bank from a DC electrical system in off-grid, marine, RV, and vehicle installations. Rated at 275A continuous, 455A for one minute, and 1250A cranking, it is capable of handling the full load current of large inverter/charger systems and high-current DC loads up to 60V maximum operating voltage — making it suitable for 12V, 24V, and 48V battery systems.
The Battery Switch serves three primary functions in a DC system: as a main battery isolation switch for routine system shutdown and maintenance, as a safety disconnect to isolate the battery from all DC loads and charge sources when a system is left unattended, and as an emergency parallel switch to connect two battery banks together — enabling a depleted starter battery to be boosted from a service battery or vice versa in an emergency situation. A set of 16 included label stickers allows the switch to be clearly and permanently labelled for its specific function in any installation.
The switch features a unique ergonomic and aesthetically designed rotary knob that provides a clear, tactile ON and OFF indication. The knob is fully removable without tools — enabling the battery system to be locked out for isolation, safety, or anti-theft purposes simply by pocketing the knob. The knob removal also provides unobstructed access to the M10 terminal bolts for cable connection and maintenance without requiring the knob to be permanently removed or replaced with a tool.
Certified to the ISO8846 Ignition Protection standard, the Battery Switch ON/OFF 275A is fully suitable for installation in engine rooms and fuel-sensitive marine environments where spark ignition risk must be controlled. It can be installed in either surface-mount or rear panel-mount configuration using the included mounting hardware, providing flexibility to suit a wide range of switchboard, battery box, and console panel installations. Terminal material is tin-plated copper with M10 (3/8 inch) stud terminals, torqued to 8 N·m.
Features
275A Continuous — 1250A Cranking Rating
With a continuous current rating of 275A, a one-minute rating of 455A, and a 1250A cranking rating, the Battery Switch ON/OFF 275A is capable of handling the full load current of large inverter/charger systems, high-power DC loads, and engine cranking circuits in 12V, 24V, and 48V battery systems up to 60V maximum operating voltage.
Three-Function Operation — Isolation, Safety, and Emergency Parallel
Functions as a main battery isolation switch for routine shutdown and maintenance, as a safety disconnect to isolate the battery from all DC loads and charge sources when a system is left unattended, and as an emergency parallel switch to connect two battery banks together for emergency engine starting or battery recovery in the field.
Removable Knob — Lockout and Anti-Theft
The ergonomic rotary knob is fully removable without tools, enabling the battery system to be locked out for isolation, safety, or anti-theft purposes simply by removing and pocketing the knob. Knob removal also provides clear access to the M10 terminal bolts for cable connection and inspection without the need to permanently remove or replace any hardware.
ISO8846 Ignition Protected — Suitable for Engine Rooms
Certified to the ISO8846 Ignition Protection standard and the equivalent SAE J1171 standard, the Battery Switch ON/OFF 275A is fully suitable for installation in engine rooms, fuel bays, and other spark-sensitive marine and vehicle environments where ignition risk from electrical switching must be controlled.
Surface or Rear Panel Mount — Flexible Installation
Compatible with both surface mounting — directly on a bulkhead, battery box wall, or cabinet — and rear panel mounting through a panel cutout, the Battery Switch ON/OFF 275A accommodates a wide range of switchboard, console panel, and battery compartment installations without requiring additional hardware or adapters.
16 Included Label Stickers — Clear Function Identification
A set of 16 different label stickers is included, allowing the switch to be permanently and clearly labelled for its specific role in any installation — such as "Battery", "Main", "Isolator", or "Emergency Parallel" — ensuring correct identification by all users and compliance with marine and vehicle electrical installation standards.
Tin-Plated Copper Terminals — M10 Stud Connection
The tin-plated copper M10 stud terminals and hex nuts provide a low-resistance, corrosion-resistant connection point for heavy DC cables, torqued to the recommended 8 N·m (70 lbf·inch) for a secure and reliable long-term electrical connection in demanding marine and vehicle environments.
