The Victron Orion DC-DC Converters, non-isolated high power range, covers the larger current ratings in Victron's non-isolated DC-DC converter lineup - stepping voltage between 12V, 24V, and 48V battery systems at currents from 8A up to 80A, for applications too demanding for the compact low-power Orion-Tr series. Being non-isolated, these converters are smaller, lighter, and more efficient than an equivalent isolated unit, and are intended for systems where the input and output negative are already on the same common ground.
On models with an adjustable output, the output voltage can be set with the onboard potentiometer, so the same converter can also be used to buffer-charge a battery - for example a 12V starter or accessory battery in an otherwise 24V system - rather than only supplying a fixed voltage. Where adjustable output is available, up to five units can be connected in parallel to increase available output current for larger loads such as inverters, winches, or bow thrusters.
A remote on/off connector eliminates the need for a high-current switch in the input wiring - the converter can be switched with a low-power switch or an external control signal such as an engine run/stop switch. The larger models in the range use temperature-controlled fan-assisted cooling to sustain their higher continuous output current.
Installation note: this range must be installed and connected by qualified personnel only, with all power sources disconnected before making any connections to the unit.
