Victron GlobalLink 520

The Victron GlobalLink 520 is a compact cellular IoT gateway that connects VE.Direct-equipped Victron products and compatible Victron Smart devices directly to the Victron Remote Management (VRM) portal via 4G LTE-M — without requiring a GX device, router, or local network infrastructure. Pre-configured and ready to use straight from the box, it enables remote monitoring of battery voltage, state of charge, solar harvest, power consumption, and temperature from anywhere in the world through the free VRM portal or VictronConnect app.

At the heart of the GlobalLink 520 is a pre-installed and pre-paid nano SIM card provided by cellular operator 1nce, which includes five years of 4G LTE-M connectivity at no additional cost — eliminating the need to purchase, configure, or maintain a separate SIM card subscription for the life of the included data plan. LTE-M (LTE Cat-M1) is a low-power IoT cellular standard designed to connect devices to existing 4G towers while consuming minimal energy, supporting roaming and handovers for use in moving vehicles such as campervans when paired with an optional external antenna.

Two isolated VE.Direct ports allow direct wired connection of up to two VE.Direct devices — such as a SmartSolar MPPT charge controller and a BMV battery monitor or SmartShunt — with data transmitted to VRM every 15 minutes for critical parameters and every 24 hours for all available data. Up to 10 additional Victron Smart products can be connected wirelessly via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Instant Readout, without needing a wired connection. RuuviTag and RuuviTag Pro environmental sensors are also supported via BLE, making temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure data available in VRM alongside energy system data.

Two digital inputs — which also function as pulse counters at up to 1000Hz — and a remotely controllable relay complete the GlobalLink 520's IO capability. A built-in internal antenna handles the majority of installations, with an SMA connector and antenna selection switch allowing an optional external or outdoor antenna to be connected for improved reception in shielded or remote locations. The VictronConnect app provides Bluetooth-based configuration and monitoring of the device itself.

5 Years of Pre-Paid 4G LTE-M Connectivity — No Subscription Required

The pre-installed and pre-paid 1nce nano SIM card provides five full years of 4G LTE-M cellular connectivity included in the purchase price — with no monthly fees, SIM card purchases, or subscription management required. Custom SIM cards from other operators are also supported for installations beyond the five-year period or in regions requiring a specific carrier.

Two Isolated VE.Direct Ports

Two isolated VE.Direct ports enable direct wired connection of up to two VE.Direct devices — such as SmartSolar and BlueSolar MPPT charge controllers, BMV battery monitors, SmartShunts, Phoenix inverters, and Blue Smart IP43 chargers — transmitting their data to VRM at 15-minute and 24-hour intervals.

Up to 10 Victron Smart Devices via Bluetooth BLE

In addition to the two wired VE.Direct devices, up to 10 compatible Victron Smart products can be connected wirelessly via Bluetooth Low Energy Instant Readout — expanding the number of monitored devices well beyond what the physical VE.Direct ports alone allow, without additional wiring or hardware.

RuuviTag Environmental Sensor Support

RuuviTag and RuuviTag Pro sensors connect via BLE and are configured through VictronConnect, making temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure data from the sensors directly available in the VRM portal — ideal for monitoring battery compartment conditions, refrigerators, and environmental areas on vessels and in off-grid installations.

Two Digital Inputs and Remote Relay

Two digital inputs — which simultaneously function as pulse counters with a maximum frequency of 1000Hz — enable monitoring of door contacts, alarms, flow meters, and energy meters. A remotely controllable relay can be switched on or off from VRM, with changes propagated at the next scheduled data transmission (within 15 minutes under normal conditions).

Internal and External Antenna Options

A built-in internal antenna provides worldwide LTE-M coverage for most fixed installations. An SMA connector and top-mounted antenna selection switch enable an optional external puck antenna or wall-mount antenna (sold separately) to be connected for improved reception in vehicles, metal enclosures, and remote or low-signal locations.

VictronConnect App Configuration and Monitoring

Built-in Bluetooth enables quick connection and configuration via the VictronConnect app on iOS and Android — including signal strength monitoring, SIM PIN and APN settings for custom SIM cards, and live data from connected VE.Direct and BLE devices — all without requiring access to the VRM portal.

VRM Data Logging — Free and Unlimited

All data transmitted by the GlobalLink 520 is stored indefinitely in the VRM portal at no cost — providing unlimited historical logging of battery voltage, state of charge, solar harvest, power consumption, temperature, and other system parameters for analysis, reporting, and alarm management from any internet-connected device.
