The Victron Lynx Smart BMS NG is the most advanced and feature-rich Battery Management System available for Victron Lithium NG batteries, available in 500A (M10) and 1000A (M10) versions. Designed as a dedicated BMS for Lithium NG batteries with nominal voltages of 12.8V, 25.6V, and 51.2V, it supports up to 50 batteries per system — delivering a maximum energy storage of 192 kWh in a 12V system and up to 384 kWh in a 24V or 48V system. Up to five Lynx Smart BMS NG units can be paralleled for further capacity expansion and system redundancy.
At its core, the Lynx Smart BMS NG uses a high-current main safety contactor — rated 500A continuous (600A peak) or 1000A continuous (1200A peak) — as a fallback safety mechanism and remote-controllable main system switch. A built-in pre-charge circuit prevents high inrush currents when the contactor closes against capacitive loads such as inverters and inverter/chargers — eliminating the need for any external pre-charge hardware. The BMS monitors all individual battery cells via M8 BTV cables, with ATC and ATD contacts providing primary charge and discharge control independent of the contactor.
DVCC (Distributed Voltage and Current Control) closed-loop integration via a connected GX device automatically controls compatible Victron inverter/chargers, Orion XS DC-DC battery chargers, and MPPT solar charge controllers — setting charge voltages and currents automatically based on live cell data without additional wiring or manual algorithm configuration. A built-in battery monitor tracks state of charge, current, voltage, power, historical data, and cell voltages and temperatures in real time, viewable via Bluetooth in VictronConnect, on a connected GX device, and through the VRM remote monitoring portal.
The AUX output provides up to 1.1A at system voltage to keep a connected GX device powered for up to five minutes after a low cell voltage shutdown event — preserving remote monitoring and communications until the battery is recharged. A programmable SPDT relay supports alarm output or alternator ATC (ignition wire) control. VE.Can communication via RJ45 enables full GX device integration, and NMEA 2000 integration is supported via a VE.Can to NMEA 2000 Micro-C cable for marine MFD glass bridge applications.
Features
High-Current Safety Contactor — 500A or 1000A
The main safety contactor provides a secondary hardware-level fallback to disconnect the battery bank if primary BMS controls (ATC, ATD, DVCC) fail to interrupt charging or discharging when required. Rated 500A continuous with 600A peak (5 minutes) or 1000A continuous with 1200A peak (5 minutes) depending on model — and also functions as a remote-controllable main system on/off switch via VictronConnect, a GX device, or the remote on/off terminals.
Built-In Pre-Charge Circuit
An integrated pre-charge circuit charges capacitive loads — such as the DC bus capacitors of inverters and inverter/chargers — before the main contactor closes, preventing the high inrush currents that would otherwise stress the battery, wiring, and connected equipment. External pre-charge devices are not required.
DVCC Closed-Loop Control for Victron Devices
Via a connected GX device, DVCC automatically controls compatible Victron inverter/chargers, Orion XS DC-DC battery chargers, and MPPT solar charge controllers — setting precise charge voltages and currents based on live cell data. Bulk, Absorption, and Float charging algorithms are replaced by direct cell-level voltage and temperature control, with no additional wiring required for DVCC-compatible devices.
ATC and ATD Primary Control Contacts
The Allow-to-Charge (ATC) contact is opened to stop charging at high cell voltage or low cell temperature. The Allow-to-Discharge (ATD) contact is opened to stop discharging at low cell voltage — providing primary BMS protection for chargers and loads wired to these contacts, independent of and prior to the main safety contactor.
Built-In Battery Monitor with Full Data Reporting
An integrated shunt and battery monitor provides real-time state of charge, voltage, current, power, time to go, historical data, and individual cell voltages and temperatures — accessible via Bluetooth in VictronConnect, on a GX device display, and through the VRM remote monitoring portal for both local and remote system visibility.
AUX Power Output — Keeps GX Device Alive After Shutdown
The AUX output supplies up to 1.1A at system voltage to power a connected GX device for up to five minutes after a low cell voltage BMS shutdown event — preserving VRM connectivity and remote diagnostics capability until the battery is recharged. The AUX port shuts down automatically if no charge voltage is detected within five minutes of a low voltage event.
VE.Can, NMEA 2000, and Bluetooth Connectivity
VE.Can (RJ45) connects the BMS to a GX device for full local and remote monitoring via VRM. NMEA 2000 integration for marine MFD glass bridge display is supported via a VE.Can to NMEA 2000 Micro-C cable. Built-in Bluetooth enables configuration, monitoring, and control via VictronConnect with Instant Readout for at-a-glance status without a full connection.
Supports Up to 4 Lynx Distributors with Fuse Monitoring
Up to four Lynx Distributor M10 modules can be connected to the BMS via RJ10 cables, with the fuse status of all 16 fuse positions monitored digitally — raising alarms in VictronConnect and on GX devices when any fuse blows, and allowing each fuse position to be named for clear system identification.
