Victron MultiPlus Compact 12/24/2000/ 120V VE.Bus (UL 458) Inverter/Chargers

The Victron MultiPlus Compact is a multifunctional inverter/charger that combines a powerful true sine wave inverter, an adaptive four-stage battery charger, and a high-speed AC transfer switch in a single compact enclosure - smaller and lighter than the standard MultiPlus while delivering the same core performance. Available in two variants for the North American market - 12/2000/80-50 and 24/2000/50-50 - both models deliver 2000 VA of continuous inverter output, a 50A AC transfer switch, two AC outputs, PowerAssist, PowerControl, and full VE.Bus system integration. Certified to UL 458 for North American marine and vehicle installations.

The "Compact" designation refers to the use of a single larger toroidal transformer rather than two smaller ones - resulting in a slightly reduced peak surge power rating compared to the standard MultiPlus, but delivering higher efficiency and a significantly smaller and lighter enclosure. This makes the MultiPlus Compact an ideal choice for installations where space is at a premium, such as in smaller vessels, motorhomes, and vehicles where the larger standard MultiPlus enclosure would not fit.

The primary AC output (AC-out-1) provides no-break UPS functionality, switching to inverter mode in less than 20 milliseconds during a shore power or generator failure - fast enough that computers and sensitive electronics continue to operate without interruption. The secondary output (AC-out-2) is live only when an AC source is present, allowing non-critical loads such as water heaters to be connected without risk of battery discharge when running on inverter power. An independent 4A trickle charge output simultaneously maintains a separate starter or generator battery.

All settings can be configured using DIP switches - including parallel and three-phase operation - without requiring a computer. For advanced configuration, VE.Bus Quick Configure and VE.Bus System Configurator software are available via an MK3-USB interface. Up to six units can be connected in parallel for higher power, and three units configured for three-phase output. Two units can be stacked for 120-0-120V split-phase power for North American installations.

True Sine Wave Inverter - 2000 VA / 1600W Continuous

Delivers a clean 120 VAC ± 2% true sine wave output at 60 Hz with 2000 VA / 1600W continuous power at 25°C and 4000W peak — handling motor startup surges and high-demand loads without distortion. The compact single-toroidal design provides higher efficiency than the standard two-transformer MultiPlus at this power level.

PowerAssist - Boosting Shore or Generator Power

When connected AC power is insufficient for the connected loads, PowerAssist automatically supplements the supply with power drawn from the battery. Once demand drops, the surplus input is used to recharge the battery - maximising every available watt from a limited shore or generator connection.

PowerControl - Preventing AC Source Overload

A maximum AC input current limit is set on the MultiPlus Compact, which then monitors all connected loads and automatically reduces battery charging as needed to prevent the shore supply or generator from being overloaded - enabling smaller generators to safely power larger systems.

No-Break UPS Transfer - Under 20 Milliseconds

In the event of shore power or generator failure the MultiPlus Compact switches to inverter operation in less than 20 milliseconds - fast enough that computers, communication equipment, and sensitive electronics continue to operate without interruption.

Two AC Outputs - Primary UPS and Auxiliary Non-Critical

The primary output (AC-out-1) provides uninterrupted UPS power. The secondary output (AC-out-2) is live only when an AC source is present — allowing non-critical loads such as water heaters to be connected without discharging the battery when running on inverter power.

Four-Stage Adaptive Battery Charger with Dual Bank Output

The adaptive charger automatically adjusts absorption time based on battery discharge depth - keeping absorption short after shallow discharges and extending it after deep discharges. A Storage mode reduces float voltage after 24 hours to minimise gassing and corrosion. An independent 4A trickle charge output simultaneously maintains a separate starter or generator battery.

Compact Single Toroidal Transformer - Smaller and Lighter

The use of a single larger toroidal transformer instead of two smaller ones results in a more compact and lightweight enclosure than the standard MultiPlus at the same power rating - making it the preferred choice for space-constrained installations in smaller vessels, motorhomes, and vehicles.

DIP Switch Configuration - No Computer Required

All key settings - including parallel operation, three-phase configuration, AC input current limits, and battery type - can be configured directly using DIP switches on the unit. Advanced configuration via VE.Bus software and an MK3-USB interface is also available for more complex system setups.

Parallel, Three-Phase, and Split-Phase Scalability

Up to six MultiPlus Compact units can be connected in parallel for higher power output, three units configured for three-phase operation, or two units stacked to provide 120-0-120V split-phase power - enabling systems up to 12 kVA single-phase or 36 kVA three-phase from this compact model family.
