Victron Orion-Tr Smart 24V Battery to Battery Isolated Charger

The Victron Orion-Tr Smart Isolated DC-DC Charger is a professional-grade battery-to-battery charger for dual battery systems in vehicles, boats, caravans, and off-grid installations where a 24V starter battery and alternator charge a separate service battery. With galvanic isolation of 200V DC between input, output, and chassis, it lets the service battery have a fully independent ground reference - ideal where separate chassis grounds are required, such as marine systems with cathodic protection, vehicles with sensitive electronics, or a lithium service battery paired with a lead-acid starter battery.

Available in four 24V-input configurations - 24/12-20A (240W), 24/12-30A (360W), 24/24-12A (280W), and 24/24-17A (400W) - it covers the most common 24V vehicle and marine dual-battery scenarios, whether stepping down to charge a 12V service battery at up to 30A or maintaining a second 24V service battery at up to 17A. All models share a 16-35V input range with a built-in buck-boost function that keeps output stable even when input voltage briefly dips below the nominal output voltage, for reliable charging across the full alternator operating range.

A key feature is intelligent engine-shutdown detection, built for modern vehicles with smart ECU-controlled alternators that shut down when the engine stops - a condition that can cause a conventional DC-DC charger to drain the starter battery. The Orion-Tr Smart monitors input voltage behaviour over time and automatically disables charging once it determines the alternator is no longer running, without needing an extra relay or ignition-sensing wire.

Built-in Bluetooth Smart pairs directly with the VictronConnect app on iOS and Android - no dongle required - for selecting lead-acid or lithium charge profiles, configuring engine detection, and monitoring live input/output voltage. Any number of units can be paralleled for larger charging current, and all models are short-circuit proof with remote on/off terminals.

All models are fully short-circuit proof, deliver full rated output up to 40°C, and automatically derate power above that threshold across an operating range up to 55°C.
