The Victron Quattro 48/3000/35-50/50 120V (QUA483021100) is a multifunctional inverter/charger that combines a powerful true sine wave inverter, an adaptive four-stage battery charger, and two independent AC inputs with automatic transfer switching into a single compact aluminium enclosure. Designed for North American 120V installations with a 48V battery bank, it delivers 3000 VA of continuous inverter output while simultaneously managing two independent AC sources — such as shore power and a generator — with full VE.Bus system integration for comprehensive monitoring, control, and remote management.
The defining characteristic of the Quattro is its two independent AC inputs with automatic transfer switching — the key distinction from the MultiPlus, which has only one AC input. One input connects to shore power and the other to a generator or secondary supply, with the Quattro automatically selecting the active source. Each AC input has its own independently configurable PowerControl current limit of up to 50A, and the Quattro will never connect the two inputs together — making it intrinsically safe for use with two independent AC sources simultaneously present.
The primary AC output (AC-out-1) provides no-break UPS functionality — transferring to inverter operation in less than 20 milliseconds in the event of a grid or generator failure, fast enough that computers and sensitive electronics continue operating without interruption. The secondary output (AC-out-2) is live only when AC is present on one of the inputs, making it ideal for loads that must not draw from the battery — such as water heaters and other high-consumption appliances.
Up to six Quattro units can be connected in parallel for higher power output, and three units configured for three-phase operation. Two units can be stacked for 120/240V split-phase output for North American installations. Three programmable relays support general alarm, DC undervoltage, and generator start/stop functions. VE.Bus integration enables full monitoring, configuration, and firmware updates via Victron GX devices, the VRM Online Portal, and the VictronConnect app.
Features
Two Independent AC Inputs with Automatic Transfer Switching
Accepts two independent AC sources — such as shore power and a generator — and automatically connects to whichever is live. Each input has its own independently configurable PowerControl current limit of up to 50A, and the two inputs are never bridged together, ensuring complete electrical isolation between both AC sources at all times.
True Sine Wave Inverter — 3000 VA / 2400W Continuous
Delivers a clean 120 VAC ± 2% true sine wave output at 60 Hz with 3000 VA / 2400W of continuous power at 25°C and 6000W peak capacity — handling motor startup surges and high-demand loads without distortion or voltage variation.
PowerAssist — Boosting Shore or Generator Power
When connected AC power is insufficient for the connected loads, PowerAssist automatically supplements the supply with power drawn from the battery. Once demand drops, surplus AC input is used to recharge the battery — maximising every available watt from shore power or generator connections of any size.
PowerControl — Preventing AC Source Overload
An independently configurable current limit on each AC input monitors all connected loads and automatically reduces battery charging to prevent overloading the shore supply or generator — enabling smaller, more fuel-efficient generators to power larger systems without risk of overload shutdown.
No-Break UPS Transfer — Under 20 Milliseconds
In the event of shore power or generator failure the Quattro switches to inverter operation in less than 20 milliseconds — fast enough that computers, communication equipment, and sensitive electronics continue operating without interruption or power cycling.
Two AC Outputs — Primary UPS and Auxiliary Non-Critical
The primary output (AC-out-1) provides uninterrupted UPS power. The secondary output (AC-out-2) is live only when AC is present at one of the inputs — preventing non-critical loads such as water heaters from discharging the battery when running on inverter power.
Four-Stage Adaptive Battery Charger — 35A
The 35A adaptive charger automatically adjusts absorption time based on battery discharge depth and condition — keeping absorption short after shallow discharges and extending it after deep discharges. The 48V model does not include a starter battery trickle charge output.
Parallel, Split-Phase, and Three-Phase Scalability
Up to six Quattro units can be connected in parallel for higher power output, three units configured for three-phase operation, or two units stacked for 120/240V split-phase output — enabling systems from 3kVA to 18kVA single-phase or 54kVA three-phase from this model family.
