The Victron Quattro 5000VA 120V is the most capable inverter/charger in the Victron 5kVA range - combining a powerful true sine wave inverter, an adaptive four-stage battery charger, and two independent AC inputs with automatic transfer switching into a single robust aluminium enclosure. Available in three battery voltage variants — 12/5000/220-100/100, 24/5000/120-100/100, and 48/5000/70-100/100 - all models deliver 5000 VA of continuous inverter output from a single unit, with two 100A AC input transfer switches, two AC outputs, PowerAssist, PowerControl, and full VE.Bus system integration. Certified to UL 1741 (48V model) and meeting EN/IEC safety standards for North American and international installations.
The defining characteristic of the Quattro - and the key distinction from the MultiPlus - is the presence of two independent AC inputs with automatic transfer switching. One input can be connected to shore power and the other to a generator, with the Quattro automatically connecting to whichever source is live. Each input has its own independently configurable current limit for PowerControl and PowerAssist. The Quattro will never connect the two AC inputs together, making it intrinsically safe for use with two independent AC sources simultaneously present.
The primary AC output (AC-out-1) has no-break UPS functionality - transferring to inverter operation in less than 20 milliseconds in the event of a grid or generator failure, fast enough that computers and sensitive electronics continue operating without interruption. The secondary output (AC-out-2) is live only when AC is present on one of the inputs, making it ideal for non-critical loads such as water heaters that must not draw from the battery. Three programmable relays support general alarm, DC undervoltage, and generator start/stop functions.
For system scalability, up to four sets of three Quattro units can be parallel connected in a three-phase configuration - providing up to 96kW / 120kVA of inverter power and more than 1600A of charging capacity from a single three-phase system. Two units can be configured for split-phase 120/240V output for North American installations. Full VE.Bus integration enables monitoring, configuration, and firmware updates via Victron GX devices, the VRM Online Portal, and the VictronConnect app.
Features
Two Independent AC Inputs with Automatic Transfer Switching
The Quattro accepts two independent AC sources — such as shore power and a generator - and automatically connects to whichever is live. Each input has its own independently configurable PowerControl current limit. The two inputs are never bridged together, ensuring complete electrical isolation between the two AC sources at all times.
True Sine Wave Inverter - 5000 VA / 4000W Continuous
Delivers a clean 120 VAC ± 2% true sine wave output at 60 Hz with 5000 VA / 4000W of continuous power at 25°C and 10000W peak capacity - handling motor startup surges, high-demand appliances, and heavy loads without distortion or voltage variation.
PowerAssist - Boosting Shore or Generator Power
When connected AC power is insufficient for the connected loads, PowerAssist automatically supplements the supply by drawing from the battery. Once demand drops, surplus AC input is used to recharge the battery - maximising every available watt from shore power or generator connections of any size.
PowerControl - Preventing AC Source Overload
An independently configurable current limit on each AC input monitors all connected loads and automatically reduces battery charging to prevent overloading the shore supply or generator - enabling smaller, more fuel-efficient generators to power larger systems without risk of overload shutdown.
No-Break UPS Transfer - Under 20 Milliseconds
In the event of shore power or generator failure, the Quattro switches to inverter operation in less than 20 milliseconds - fast enough that computers, communication equipment, and sensitive electronics continue to operate without interruption or power cycling.
Two AC Outputs - Primary UPS and Auxiliary Non-Critical
The primary output (AC-out-1) provides uninterrupted UPS power. The secondary output (AC-out-2) is live only when AC is present at one of the inputs - preventing non-critical loads such as water heaters and air conditioners from drawing from the battery when running on inverter power.
Four-Stage Adaptive Battery Charger with Starter Battery Output
The adaptive charger automatically adjusts absorption time based on battery discharge depth and condition. An independent 4A trickle charge output (12V and 24V models only) simultaneously maintains a separate starter or generator battery. Three programmable relays support alarm, DC undervoltage, and generator start/stop functions.
Parallel, Three-Phase, and Split-Phase Scalability
Up to four sets of three Quattro units can be connected in parallel for three-phase operation - enabling systems up to 96kW / 120kVA and more than 1600A charging capacity. Two units can be configured for 120/240V split-phase output for North American installations.
