The Victron Skylla-i Remote On-Off Cable (ASS030550400) is a purpose-built signal cable designed to connect the Skylla-i battery charger to a VE.Bus BMS, enabling automatic on/off control of the charger based on battery state. When connected, the VE.Bus BMS can disable the Skylla-i charger when the batteries are fully charged or when a cell overvoltage or overtemperature condition is detected — providing seamless, automated charge control without manual intervention.
The cable operates on a simple signal logic: the Skylla-i switches on when the source signal from the VE.Bus BMS is high (above approximately 6V), and switches off when the input voltage drops below 1V or is free floating. This logic matches directly with the Charge Disconnect output behaviour of the VE.Bus BMS, which is normally high and goes free floating when charging must be interrupted.
Beyond VE.Bus BMS integration, the cable can be used with any external control source that provides a compatible high/low signal — such as a relay, open-collector output, or optocoupler output from a third-party lithium BMS — making it a flexible remote control interface for the Skylla-i charger in a variety of system configurations.
Simple to install and requiring no configuration, the Skylla-i Remote On-Off Cable is an essential accessory for any system combining the Skylla-i battery charger with a VE.Bus BMS or external charge control device.
Features
Designed for VE.Bus BMS Integration
The cable connects directly between the Charge Disconnect output of the VE.Bus BMS and the remote control port of the Skylla-i charger, allowing the BMS to automatically disable charging in response to cell overvoltage, overtemperature, or a fully charged condition.
High/Low Signal Logic Control
The Skylla-i is switched on when the input signal is high (above approximately 6V) and switched off when the input voltage is below 1V or free floating — matching the output behaviour of the VE.Bus BMS Charge Disconnect terminal for direct and reliable integration.
Compatible with Third-Party BMS and Control Devices
In addition to the VE.Bus BMS, the cable is compatible with any relay, open-collector output, or optocoupler signal source that provides a high/low control signal — making it suitable for integration with third-party lithium BMS units and custom control circuits.
Automatic Charge Interruption
When used with the VE.Bus BMS, charging is interrupted automatically and without user action whenever the BMS detects a cell-level fault condition, protecting lithium batteries from overcharge damage during unattended charging operations.
Simple Plug-and-Play Installation
The cable connects to the remote control port on the Skylla-i charger and to the Charge Disconnect output of the VE.Bus BMS with no additional hardware, configuration, or wiring required — making installation fast and straightforward.
Wide Input Voltage Range
With a maximum input voltage rating of 70V DC, the cable is compatible with the full range of system voltages supported by the Skylla-i charger and VE.Bus BMS, from 12V through to 48V battery systems.
