Victron VE Bus Smart Dongle

The Victron VE.Bus Smart Dongle (ASS030537010) is a compact Bluetooth accessory that adds wireless monitoring, remote control, and battery sensing capability to any Victron inverter or inverter/charger with a VE.Bus port. Two products in one, it serves simultaneously as a Bluetooth interface to the VictronConnect app and as a voltage and temperature sense device for the connected inverter/charger — making it the ideal monitoring and control solution for smaller systems in caravans, motorhomes, and small yachts where a full GX device is not required.

Once connected to a Multi, MultiPlus, MultiPlus-II, MultiGrid, MultiGrid-II, Quattro, or Phoenix Inverter via a standard UTP RJ45 cable (not included), the VE.Bus Smart Dongle enables the VictronConnect app on iOS and Android to monitor all key inverter/charger parameters — including AC and DC voltage, current, frequency, state, active alarms, and warnings — and to control the device remotely: switching between On, Off, and Charger-Only modes and adjusting the AC input current limit. Instant Readout displays the inverter/charger's key data directly in the VictronConnect device list without requiring an active Bluetooth connection.

The dongle also functions as a battery voltage and temperature sensor, supplying accurate battery terminal voltage and temperature data to the connected inverter/charger for improved charge voltage compensation. By default it uses its onboard temperature sensor — which accurately measures battery temperature when the dongle is mounted directly on the battery case using the included adhesive mount. An optional external temperature sensor (ASS000100000) can be connected instead for even more accurate battery terminal temperature measurement. Both voltage and temperature data are shared across VE.Smart Networking with connected Victron Smart solar chargers for coordinated temperature-compensated charging.

The dongle can be used in systems with or without a GX device. When a GX device is present on the VE.Bus, it takes priority over the dongle for system control — the dongle will continue to provide monitoring and sensing but will not transmit voltage and temperature data if the GX device already supplies this from another source such as a CANbus battery.

VE.Smart Networking — Shared Sensing Data

Battery voltage and temperature data measured by the dongle is shared wirelessly via VE.Smart Networking with connected Victron SmartSolar MPPT solar charge controllers, enabling coordinated temperature-compensated charging across all devices in the system without individual sensor connections at each charger.

Instant Readout — At-a-Glance System Status

Key inverter/charger data — including warnings, alarms, and errors — is displayed directly in the VictronConnect device list page without requiring a full Bluetooth connection to the dongle, enabling rapid at-a-glance diagnostics of the system from any location within Bluetooth range.

Compatible with Parallel and Three-Phase Systems

A single VE.Bus Smart Dongle can be connected to a single inverter/charger or to multiple inverter/chargers configured in parallel or three-phase — providing full system monitoring and control capability for multi-unit installations without requiring one dongle per unit.

Internal and External Temperature Sensing

The default installation uses the dongle's onboard temperature sensor, which measures battery temperature accurately when the dongle is mounted on the battery case using the included adhesive mount. For improved accuracy, the optional external battery-terminal temperature sensor (ASS000100000) can be connected — overriding the internal sensor and providing direct terminal-level temperature measurement.

Suitable for Use With or Without a GX Device

The VE.Bus Smart Dongle can operate in both GX-device and non-GX-device systems. In systems with a GX device, the dongle continues to provide Bluetooth monitoring and sensing while the GX device manages system control. In systems without a GX device, the dongle provides full standalone monitoring, control, and sensing capability via VictronConnect.
