The Victron VE.Can to NMEA 2000 Interface Cable (ASS030520200) is a drop cable designed to connect any Victron product with a VE.Can RJ45 port directly to a NMEA 2000 network backbone via a standard Micro-C male connector. It enables Victron GX devices, VE.Bus inverter/chargers, and other VE.Can-equipped products to exchange data with NMEA 2000 compatible marine instruments, Multi-Function Displays (MFDs), and tank level senders — integrating Victron energy system data into a vessel's existing onboard navigation and instrumentation network.
When a GX device is connected to a NMEA 2000 network via this cable, it can display tank levels from NMEA 2000 compatible tank senders directly on the GX device screen. It also enables connected VE.Bus products such as the MultiPlus or Quattro to transmit monitoring data — including AC voltages and currents, DC voltages and currents, and system state — across the NMEA 2000 network to compatible MFDs and other network devices. In the other direction, NMEA 2000 devices on the network can also send commands back to the VE.Bus product to switch it on or off or adjust its input current limit.
The cable features an RJ45 connector on the VE.Can end and a Micro-C male connector on the NMEA 2000 end, with a cable length of approximately 1 metre — functioning as a standard NMEA 2000 drop cable that connects the Victron device to any available Micro-C female socket on the NMEA 2000 backbone network.
Please note: Victron Energy has marked this interface cable as deprecated. A Victron GX device (such as the Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX) connected directly to the NMEA 2000 network via this cable or via a dedicated NMEA 2000 port is now the recommended approach, providing significantly more functionality. Refer to the Victron NMEA 2000 and MFD Integration Guide for the current recommended integration method.
Features
Connects VE.Can Devices to NMEA 2000 Networks
Bridges the Victron VE.Can bus (RJ45) to a NMEA 2000 network backbone (Micro-C male) — enabling any Victron product with a VE.Can port to participate in a vessel's NMEA 2000 data network alongside navigation instruments, MFDs, and other marine electronics.
NMEA 2000 Tank Level Display on GX Devices
When a GX device is connected to a NMEA 2000 network via this cable, tank levels from NMEA 2000 compatible tank senders on the vessel network can be displayed directly on the GX device screen — providing a centralised view of both energy system data and tank levels from one display.
VE.Bus System Data Transmission to MFDs
Enables VE.Bus products such as the MultiPlus and Quattro inverter/chargers to transmit real-time monitoring data — including AC and DC voltages, AC and DC currents, and overall system state — across the NMEA 2000 network for display on compatible MFDs and chart plotters.
Two-Way Control via NMEA 2000
In addition to transmitting monitoring data, NMEA 2000 devices on the network can send control commands back to connected VE.Bus products — including switching the inverter/charger on or off and adjusting the AC input current limit — enabling basic energy system control from compatible MFD interfaces.
Standard NMEA 2000 Micro-C Male Drop Cable Format
The Micro-C male connector on the NMEA 2000 end is the standard drop cable connector format, connecting to any available Micro-C female T-connector or drop point on a NMEA 2000 backbone — requiring no special adapters or modifications to an existing NMEA 2000 installation.
Deprecated — GX Device Now Recommended
Victron has marked this cable as deprecated. Current installations are recommended to use a Victron GX device for NMEA 2000 integration instead, which provides significantly more data, greater compatibility with modern MFDs, and full MFD glass bridge app support. Refer to the Victron NMEA 2000 and MFD Integration Guide for the recommended current approach.
