The Victron VE.Direct Non-Inverting Remote On-Off Cable (ASS030550320) is a purpose-built signal cable that enables remote on/off control of Victron BlueSolar and SmartSolar MPPT charge controllers via their VE.Direct port. Designed for use in lithium battery systems managed by a VE.Bus BMS or SmallBMS, it allows the BMS to automatically enable or disable the solar charger based on battery cell status — providing seamless, automated charge control without manual intervention or additional relay hardware.

The cable operates on a simple non-inverting signal logic: the solar charger is enabled when the signal on the cable is high (above approximately 6V), and is disabled when the source signal is pulled low (below 1V) or left free floating. This logic matches directly with the Charge Disconnect output behaviour of the VE.Bus BMS and SmallBMS, which is normally high and goes free floating when charging must be interrupted — such as in the event of a cell overvoltage or overtemperature fault.

The cable is intended for use with smaller BlueSolar and SmartSolar MPPT models that do not feature a dedicated onboard Remote On/Off terminal. Larger SmartSolar MPPT models already include an onboard remote terminal and do not require this cable. It is important to note that because a VE.Direct port can only serve one function at a time, using this cable on a charge controller's VE.Direct port means that port can no longer be used simultaneously for connection to a GX device or a VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle.

Remote On/Off Control via VE.Direct Port

Connects to the VE.Direct port of compatible BlueSolar and SmartSolar MPPT charge controllers to provide remote on/off switching capability — eliminating the need for a separate relay or external switching device to control charger operation.

Non-Inverting Signal Logic

The charger is enabled when the input signal is high (above approximately 6V) and disabled when the signal is pulled low or left free floating — matching the non-inverting output behaviour of the Charge Disconnect terminal on the VE.Bus BMS and SmallBMS for direct and reliable integration without signal inversion.

VE.Bus BMS and SmallBMS Integration

Connects directly between the Charge Disconnect output of the VE.Bus BMS or SmallBMS and the VE.Direct port of a compatible solar charger, allowing the BMS to automatically disable charging in response to cell overvoltage, overtemperature, or other fault conditions — protecting lithium batteries from overcharge damage.

Designed for Smaller BlueSolar and SmartSolar MPPT Models

Intended for use with BlueSolar and SmartSolar MPPT charge controller models that do not have a dedicated onboard Remote On/Off terminal. Not required for larger SmartSolar models that already feature an onboard remote terminal.

Wide Input Voltage Range

With a maximum input voltage rating of 70V DC, the cable is compatible with control signals across the full range of Victron system voltages — from 12V through to 48V battery systems — without the need for voltage-specific variants.

Plug-and-Play Installation

Connects directly to the VE.Direct port on the solar charger with no additional hardware required. Most MPPT models require no settings changes as the VE.Direct RX pin is set to remote on/off by factory default — though models with a load output (75/10, 75/15, 100/15, and 100/20) require a one-time VictronConnect configuration change.
