Victron Venus GX System Monitoring

The Victron Venus GX is a communication centre and system monitoring device that connects and coordinates all Victron products within an energy system — enabling centralised monitoring, control, and remote access via the free Victron Remote Management (VRM) portal. Designed for marine, RV, off-grid, and ESS installations, it provides real-time visibility of battery state of charge, power consumption, solar harvest, generator status, tank levels, and temperature from any internet-connected device worldwide.

The Venus GX connects to Victron inverters, inverter/chargers, MPPT solar charge controllers, battery monitors, and other VE.Direct, VE.Bus, and VE.Can devices — allowing all system data to be read, logged, and managed from a single hub. When connected to the internet via Ethernet or WiFi, all data is transmitted continuously to the VRM portal. When no internet connection is available, the Venus GX stores data internally for up to 48 hours — with a MicroSD card or USB stick extending local storage for offline analysis via the VictronConnect app.

Three resistive tank level inputs accept European (0–180 Ohm) or US (240–30 Ohm) tank senders, displaying fuel, water, and waste tank levels alongside power system data. Two temperature sense inputs accept the Victron temperature sensor (ASS000001000) for battery or ambient temperature monitoring. A programmable relay enables automated generator start/stop based on low voltage, battery state of charge, or high demand — with configurable quiet time windows to prevent nuisance starts at night.

Please note: The Venus GX is deprecated. Victron Energy recommends the Cerbo GX for all new installations — offering a significantly more powerful processor, more communication ports, GX Touch display compatibility, and greater device capacity at a comparable price point.

Features

Centralised System Monitoring and Control

Connects to all VE.Direct, VE.Bus, and VE.Can Victron devices — including MultiPlus and Quattro inverter/chargers, BlueSolar and SmartSolar MPPT charge controllers, BMV battery monitors, Lynx Shunt VE.Can, and Skylla-i chargers — providing a single monitoring and control hub for the entire system.

VRM Remote Monitoring Portal

When connected to the internet via Ethernet or WiFi, all system data is transmitted continuously to the free Victron VRM portal — enabling remote monitoring, alarm management, settings access, and historical data analysis from any internet-connected smartphone, tablet, or computer anywhere in the world.

Offline Data Storage — 48 Hours Internal, Extended via MicroSD/USB

When no internet connection is available, the Venus GX stores data internally for up to 48 hours. Inserting a MicroSD card or USB stick extends local storage capacity indefinitely — with stored files uploadable to VRM when connectivity is restored or analysable offline via the VictronConnect app.

Resistive Tank Level Inputs

Three resistive tank level inputs accept European (0–180 Ohm) or US (240–30 Ohm) tank senders — or a custom resistance range between 0 and 300 Ohm — displaying fuel, water, and waste tank levels alongside energy system data on the VRM portal and any connected displays.

Temperature Sense Inputs

Two temperature sense inputs accept the Victron temperature sensor (ASS000001000) for monitoring battery or ambient temperature — with temperature data displayed on VRM and available for temperature-triggered alarms and relay functions.

Programmable Relay — Automatic Generator Start/Stop

A programmable relay enables automated generator start and stop based on configurable triggers including low battery voltage, state of charge threshold, and high load demand — with adjustable quiet time periods to prevent unwanted starts during sleep or quiet hours.

Modbus-TCP Gateway

The Venus GX acts as a Modbus-TCP gateway for all connected Victron products — enabling integration with third-party building management systems, SCADA platforms, and industrial control systems that support the Modbus TCP protocol.

Deprecated — Cerbo GX Recommended for New Installations

The Venus GX is deprecated. Victron Energy recommends the Cerbo GX for all new installations, offering a more powerful processor, more VE.Direct ports, GX Touch display compatibility, BMS-Can port, tank and temperature inputs, and greater overall device capacity at a comparable price.
