HD Power Solutions supplies regulators and parts for Powerline heavy-duty alternators. eMarine lists the 10-170 regulator for Powerline alternators with pigtail, and the 11-89 pigtail for the 10-170 regulator, so you can replace a failed regulator or wiring without replacing the whole alternator.
How to choose a replacement regulator
Confirm the alternator series and the regulator part number on your existing unit before ordering, and check whether your regulator came with a pigtail or whether you need to order it separately. If the alternator charges erratically, inspect the pigtail and terminals for corrosion too. For an upgrade to multi-stage charging, consider an external smart regulator instead.
Do you carry Powerline alternators?
Yes, see Powerline.
Can I upgrade to a smart regulator?
Often yes, depending on the alternator. See alternator regulators.
How do I know the regulator has failed?
Typical signs are no charging, very high charging voltage or erratic output. Check belts, wiring and battery condition first, then test the regulator.
