The Victron GX WiFi Module Long Range (BPP900200400) is a high-performance dual-band USB WiFi adapter based on the Netgear AC1200 (A6210), designed to add long-range wireless network connectivity to Victron GX monitoring devices. Compatible with the Color Control GX, Cerbo GX, Venus GX, Ekrano GX, and other GX family devices, it provides significantly superior signal reception and range compared to the CCGX WiFi Module Simple — making it the recommended choice for installations where the GX device is located far from a WiFi router, or where building materials, vessel hulls, or other obstructions reduce signal strength.
The module connects to any USB-A port on the GX device and is immediately recognised without drivers or configuration. The WiFi network name (SSID) and password are entered directly on the GX device display, after which the GX device connects automatically to the network and enables access to the Victron Remote Management (VRM) portal for remote monitoring, control, and firmware updates from any internet-connected device.
Supporting 802.11ac, 802.11a/b/g/n wireless standards across both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands, the Long Range module offers compatibility with both older and modern dual-band WiFi routers and access points. The 5 GHz band provides faster data transfer and reduced interference in congested WiFi environments, while 2.4 GHz offers greater penetration through walls and obstructions. High-gain antennas and amplifiers are built into the adapter housing for optimised reception across extended distances — reaching up to three times further than a standard WiFi adapter under equivalent conditions.
When multiple known WiFi networks are within range, the GX device automatically connects to the strongest available signal and switches networks automatically if signal strength drops below an acceptable threshold. WPA and WPA2 encryption are supported for secure network connections.
Features
Long-Range Signal Reception
High-gain antennas and built-in amplifiers provide signal reception up to three times greater than a standard WiFi adapter under equivalent conditions — enabling reliable GX device connectivity in installations where the router is distant, or where building materials, bulkheads, or metal structures attenuate the signal.
Dual-Band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Operation
Supports both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands — providing compatibility with older access points on 2.4 GHz while offering the faster, less congested 5 GHz band for improved performance in environments with high WiFi traffic density.
802.11ac / Wireless AC Support
Supports the latest 802.11ac (Wireless AC) standard as well as 802.11a/b/g/n, providing compatibility with the full range of WiFi router generations from legacy 2.4 GHz-only access points through to modern AC dual-band routers — with data transfer rates of up to 300 Mbps.
Compatible with All Victron GX Devices
Supported by the Color Control GX, Cerbo GX, Venus GX, Ekrano GX, and other GX family devices running current Venus OS firmware — making it a versatile long-range wireless accessory across the entire Victron GX product ecosystem.
VRM Portal Remote Monitoring Access
Once connected to a local WiFi network, the GX device communicates with the Victron Remote Management (VRM) portal — enabling remote monitoring, configuration, alarm management, data logging, and firmware updates from any internet-connected device, anywhere in the world.
Automatic Network Selection and Switching
When multiple known WiFi networks are within range, the GX device automatically connects to the strongest available signal and switches to a stronger known network if signal strength drops below an acceptable threshold — maintaining the most reliable available connection without manual intervention.
WPA and WPA2 Security
Supports WPA and WPA2 encrypted WiFi networks, as well as WEP and open networks — ensuring compatibility with the security configurations used by home, marina, campsite, and commercial WiFi infrastructure.
USB 3.0 Interface — Backward Compatible
The Netgear AC1200 adapter uses a USB 3.0 interface for maximum data throughput, and is fully backward compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 ports — ensuring compatibility with all USB-A ports on current and legacy Victron GX devices.
