The Victron MPPT 100/50 Solar Charge Controller is available in two variants — BlueSolar (SCC020050200) and SmartSolar (SCC110050210) — both delivering identical solar charging performance with a maximum PV open-circuit voltage of 100V and a maximum battery charge current of 50A. Compatible with 12V and 24V battery banks, the MPPT 100/50 is suitable for solar systems of up to 700W (12V) or 1400W (24V), making it an ideal mid-range controller for off-grid, marine, and RV installations with medium to large solar arrays.
Both variants use Victron's ultra-fast BlueSolar MPPT algorithm — which continuously tracks the true maximum power point of the PV array and adjusts in real time as light conditions change. In partially clouded conditions where light intensity is constantly varying, this algorithm improves energy harvest by up to 30% compared to PWM charge controllers and up to 10% compared to slower MPPT controllers. The maximum conversion efficiency exceeds 98%, and because no cooling fan is fitted, the full rated 50A output current is maintained up to an ambient temperature of 40°C without any current derating.
The key difference between the two variants is built-in Bluetooth: the SmartSolar includes integrated Bluetooth Smart for direct connection to the VictronConnect app on iOS and Android — enabling live monitoring, full settings configuration, historical data analysis, and wireless firmware updates without any additional hardware. The BlueSolar does not include built-in Bluetooth but can be upgraded by adding an optional VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle. Both variants include a VE.Direct port for wired connection to a GX device or computer.
Both models support a fully programmable charge algorithm via VictronConnect (SmartSolar) or VE.Direct interface (BlueSolar), with eight pre-programmed algorithms selectable via a rotary switch — covering flooded lead-acid, GEL, AGM, and LiFePO₄ battery chemistries. The charge current can be shared across VE.Smart Networking with connected battery monitors and chargers for coordinated temperature-compensated charging.

Ultra-Fast BlueSolar MPPT Algorithm
Victron's proprietary ultra-fast MPPT algorithm continuously tracks the true maximum power point of the PV array — reacting instantly to changing light conditions and locking to the optimum MPP even in partial shading conditions where multiple local maxima are present on the power-voltage curve. Up to 30% more energy than PWM and up to 10% more than slower MPPT controllers in variable light.
SmartSolar: Built-In Bluetooth with VictronConnect App
The SmartSolar variant includes integrated Bluetooth Smart — pairing directly with the VictronConnect app on iOS and Android for real-time monitoring of PV voltage, PV current, battery voltage, charge current, charge stage, and historical yield data. Full settings configuration and wireless firmware updates are available without additional hardware.
BlueSolar: VE.Direct Port with Optional Bluetooth Dongle
The BlueSolar variant does not include built-in Bluetooth but can be upgraded with an optional VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle for wireless app connectivity. The VE.Direct port on both variants enables connection to GX monitoring devices, VRM remote monitoring, and VictronConnect on a computer via USB interface.
Maximum Efficiency Exceeds 98% — No Cooling Fan
Peak conversion efficiency exceeding 98% means minimal energy is wasted as heat during normal operation. The absence of a cooling fan eliminates fan noise and a common failure point — and the full rated 50A output current is maintained up to 40°C ambient without any derating, making it suitable for warm installation environments.
Advanced Partial Shading MPPT Detection
When partial shading creates multiple local maxima on the PV array's power-voltage curve, conventional MPPT controllers lock to a local MPP — missing the true global maximum. Victron's algorithm scans the entire curve and consistently locks to the highest available power point, maximising harvest even under complex shading conditions.
Eight Pre-Programmed Charge Algorithms
Eight charge algorithms are pre-programmed and selectable via a rotary switch — covering all common lead-acid battery types (flooded, GEL, AGM) and LiFePO₄ — with full custom algorithm programming available via VictronConnect or VE.Direct for advanced users requiring specific absorption, float, and equalisation parameters.
VE.Smart Networking — Coordinated System Charging
When connected via Bluetooth (SmartSolar) or VE.Direct to a GX device, the MPPT 100/50 participates in VE.Smart Networking — sharing real-time battery voltage and temperature data with connected battery monitors, inverter/chargers, and other solar chargers for coordinated temperature-compensated charging across the entire system.
Comprehensive Electronic Protection
Protection features include over-temperature with automatic output derating, PV short-circuit protection, PV reverse polarity protection, PV reverse current protection, and battery reverse polarity protection (via a fuse) — covering all common fault conditions in solar charge controller installations.
